RISE to new Social Economy Training Opportunities

Training for project managers in the voluntary and community sector in Donegal and Monaghan

Social Economy Solutions has recently launched a new training programme as part of the Rural Initiative for the Social Economy (RISE). The programme will begin in May and will run through until the end of June.

The training programme consists of four distinct units. Each training unit will require a commitment of 6 hours over two sessions.

The training will take place in Buncrana and Emyvale but is planned to have further locations throughout NI in September 2007.

Financial Planning

Tutors: (Patrick McManus/Carmel Woods)

This training programme will provide/refresh participants with the underpinning knowledge and skills for effective financial planning and management. Key components include understanding cash flow forecast, profit and loss account and balance sheet as well as principles such as breakeven and full cost recovery.

Marketing Planning

Tutor: Rita McGarvey

This training programme will focus on giving participants a practical understanding of the key principles of marketing and marketing planning. It will provide groups with an understanding of marketing for a multi-stakeholder environment and to be able to identify and prioritise organisational stakeholders.

Governance & Management

Charlie Fisher

This training programme will explore the issues underpinning good governance in the community and voluntary/social economy sector. It will explore the context in which social enterprises are managed and the roles and responsibilities of board members. It will highlight examples of the benefits of good governance and the pitfall of neglecting governance issues.

Measuring Social Impact

Patrick McManus

This training programme will provide participants with an introduction to measuring the social impact within their community. It will look at ways and means of capturing information that demonstrates how an organisations core activity fulfils its mission and objectives.
