Postgraduate training in social research

Three postgraduate courses (part-time and accessed through e-learning) in social research skills. The next admission is in September 2008.

The courses offer:

  • 3 research modules - Survey and Quantitative Research Methods; Qualitative Research Methods; Research, Public Policy and Evaluation
  • Specialist modules - Researching Social Inequality and Exclusion; Voluntary Action Studies; Peace and Conflict Research in Divided Societies
  • The option to do a Masters project in one of these specialist areas
  • Flexible student enrolment that takes place twice a year
  • 3 possible exit levels – Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters level
  • All your learning and teaching takes place via your computer at home or at work provided that you have Internet access
  • Classes are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week
  • A course director and module coordinator to help you when you have queries
  • A technical help desk (through Campus One, our virtual campus)

Social Research Skills leafletWe have developed this distance learning programme because we understand that you have to fit your study around your life and not vice versa. All of your lectures, class discussions and projects take place online so you never have to worry about lecture times or travelling to attend classes. As long as you meet your assignment.

2. Postgraduate Certificate in Quantitative Research Methods with Specialism (DL) is based on successful completion of the Survey and Quantitative Research Skills module and one specialism module.

3. Postgraduate Certificate in Qualitative Research Methods with Specialism (DL)is based on successful completion of the Qualitative Research Methods module and one specialism module.
