Children and adults with literacy problems are making great strides through a computer based, self directed programme designed in England in 1992 and running in Northern Ireland since May 2008.
A computer based programme designed to develop reading, spelling and writing skills for people with dyslexia has been introduced in Northern Ireland and is proving to get excellent results.
TTRS – Touch, Type, Read and Spell takes the user through incremental literacy levels in a multi-sensory approach which stimulates learning for long term retention.
The programme has been piloted in Northern Ireland since last year with highly positive evidence from participants as to its effectiveness, both for adults and children with literacy difficulties and dyslexia.
Parents of children in the programme have given it high praise for not only helping the child perform so much better in school, but also for lifting self-confidence and self-esteem and essentially making them happier kids.
TTRS has been running successfully in England since 1992 and in the Republic of Ireland since 2006. Education licences are available for groups in the North who wish to set up self-sustaining literacy centres using the TTRS system.
