Policy and lobbying training sessions

NICVA Small Logo

NICVA has planned a series of training events on policy engagement for the autumn/winter period.

With this series of information sessions NICVA aims to equip you with the skills and information you need to engage more effectively with your MLAs and policy makers.

Get to know the North-South bodies
On Wednesday 29 October there will be an information session on getting to know the North South bodies. The North South Ministerial Council and the British Irish Council provide a forum for debate on issues that are relevant to the voluntary and community sector as poverty, environmental issues, education and tourism and yet the sector has been slow to engage with these bodies.

Get to know Assembly committees
This session on Wednesday 19 November will explain the functions of committees with specific emphasis on how voluntary and community organisations can engage effectively with their work. The roles of Chairperson and Clerk are key to the successful function of Committees. Guest speakers have agreed to come along and provide a first hand account of the realities of day to day work in committees and answer questions.

All events will be held at NICVA.
