BSP Measure 2.8 The advancement of women

Applications are invited for Measure 2.8 The Advancement of Women under Priority 2 of the Building Sustainable Prosperity (BSP) Programme which is primarily supported by the European Social Fund.

The Objectives of this measure are

  • To promote the participation of women in training, employment and self-employment
  • to support the objectives of the European Employment Strategy,

Actions under this Measure will include:

  • Reducing the barriers that prevent women from participating in training or employment, particularly childcare.
  • Providing training, which would allow women to enter non-traditional occupations.
  • Improving the quality of information about training opportunities.
  • Promoting the option of self-employment for women.

Projects should:

  • deliver outcomes at least to the minimum appropriate quality standards
  • complement other mainstream learning and training initiatives
  • build upon recognised best practice initiatives.

The following ESF themes are particularly relevant to the implementation of this Measure and applicants will be required to demonstrate in their application how they will tackle:

  • Gender mainstreaming
  • The Information Society
  • Local development
Successful projects will receive funding for up to two years with effect from 1 June 2006 on the basis of 65% European Social Fund (ESF) and 35% match funding independently secured by the successful organisation

The European Social Fund aims to help develop employment by promoting employability, the business spirit and equal opportunities and investing in human resources
