The Workforce Hub exists to link any charities, voluntary organisations, not-for-profit organisations, social enterprises, social economy organisations or third sector organisations to the appropriate sector skills councils, or if none exists, to work with the SSDA to represent their interests.
The hub consists of representatives from four partner organisations, namely:
- National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO),
- Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA),
- Scottish Council for Voluntary Action (SCVO) and
- Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
A memorandum of Understanding exists between these UK Voluntary Sector Partner Organisations and the Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) on behalf of the Skills for Business Network (SfBN).
The key role of the Workforce Hub is to build capacity to:
- Develop partnerships with key stakeholders SSCs, SSDA etc
- Support SSCs
- Develop capacity of 30% not covered
- Redevelop the Callnet website into communityskillsni
- Promote National Occupational Standards
- Share Labour Market Information
- Drive forward development of Skills Strategy
- Enhance management & leaderships skills
- Governance support
- Promote good employment practice
