WEA logoThe Worker’s Education Network (WEA) is an independent voluntary organisation set up in 1910 to make learning accessible to all men and women especially those removed from the educational experience. As well as offering opportunities to individuals they seek to assist those who wish to work collectively for the benefit of their communities and for the good of society as a whole.

WEA’s key target groups include non-participating men, excluded women, older people, low paid workers and community groups.

To reach these key target groups they run a series of programmes each led by a programme manager. Under each programme a broad range of courses are available from Creative Digital Technologies to Effective Fundraising. These courses are run at locations throughout Northern Ireland especially in locations where the community can have easy access such as local public libraries, and community halls.

Costs for courses are kept to a minimum indeed a substantial proportion of WEA classes in particular subject areas are free of charge.
